Financial Controller (French speaking)

One of our clients, the holding company for a very renowned European business, is seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant/Financial Controller. They have operations all over the world and are headquartered abroad. The job is based in Amsterdam and is for three days per week. Fluency in French is required for this position. You will be reporting to the General Manager and be part of a small team. The job is hands-on and requires in depth understanding of Accounting.
Job description
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Provide technical support and advice on management accounting
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast proces
- Prepare (interim) financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Conduct regular bank account reconciliation
- Liaise with Financial Managers and Accounting Managers of related companies to improve financial procedures
- Prepare one set of consolidated financial statements
- Manage and participate in the annual audit process
Requirements
- Educated to a degree in Finance, preferably with a postgraduate degree
- Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures, in-depth understanding of IFRS
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Fluency in French language and English
- Empathetic personality
- Willingness to work in a small team and used to work autonomously
